The story how a software product can help to save the graduation spirit of 2020
Have you ever wondered about the background of creating a software product?We decided to open the curtain on the history of Innocode’s product, called “Moments” for those who were curious about it.
“Moments” were created almost 4 years ago. Through the name of this product you can imagine that it has to do something with remembering and sharing special moments, and you are absolutely right.
“Moments” is basically a platform for creation online classifieds and greetings with important moments for individuals, local communities and readers, that is often used by Online Media Newsletters. The concept of our product is well known, we won’t lie that it was invented by us.
For example, when traveling in Italy, or Spain, in a cozy town you could mention on some paper adds on walls with information that some grandma passed away and the community really misses her or the other ad about the wedding of some couple and best wishes with this wonderful occasion from local people.
In Ukraine TV shows with greetings are very popular in small towns. People are ordering a song with greeting written in the bottom and the whole family or even community are watching and waiting to see who is sending them greetings and which song are they picking.
People in Norway, since the Newsletters were invented did the same — shared their greetings with special holidays and their compassion about losing their beloveds, but there was no relevant digital implementation until the last moment. Innocode almost 4 years ago decided that such product would be a good addition to our products. So now, people are able to greet each-other, bring their sympathies, share the great news about marriage or the birth of a child without need to carry on coins to the Newsletter, but to send and pay online for the publication of it both in paper and digital Newsletter. We just digitized the old tradition and at the same time simplified life for users and readers.
So, “Moments” is basically a platform for creation online classifieds and greetings with important moments for individuals, local communities and readers, that is often used by Online Media Newsletters. It’s been more than 3 years for us to share and observe people’s holidays and this season’s greetings were very special …
Do you remember your high school graduation? The holiday outfit you had, the preparation for the party and those words from your grandparents that guided you through the next years of your life? What about your graduation from the College? The feeling of stepping into grown life, saying goodbye to your classmates and holding the diploma you worked hard for almost half of the decade! Was it amazing, right?
This year is kind of different to senior students.. Agree, that it would be easy to lose this “graduation spirit” if not for the great initiative of Dallas Morning News and our product “Moments”. Dallas Morning News is an online edition of daily Dallas Newspaper.
Dallas is a big city with more than 7 millions population, 300 schools, which are divided into 70 school districts. You can see that these aren’t small numbers.
To help the community, especially parents, that are choosing which school to send their children to, this great Newspaper made a large catalog of schools, using open data school rankings, student average scores, reviews, various rankings and have made it a separate page on their website.
Each of these pages has a separate “Moments” widget with congratulations for the graduates. That is more than 300 schools, more than 300 pages, and more than 300 widgets for each congratulation. Dallas Morning News needed functionality in the product to create a widget so that there were only greetings ads. Honestly, we did not have such experience before, but Roman Peliushkevych and Oksana Kurylo created and delivered it quickly, thanks to which relatives, friends and families of graduates were able not only to share their congrats in online view, but also as beautiful glossy postcards. Printed versions of the postcards were released in mid-June.
